A blaze destroyed a Clermont trailer and damaged a Sioux City house injuring two women and a child. David Watkins, 14 months, died in the Sioux City home. Larry, 3, perished after rescue. Special grand jury called on Ottumwa vice investigation
Ottumwa county attorney John D. Moon called a special grand jury to probe vice conditions in Ottumwa. The session opens Tuesday under an order signed by District Judge E K Daugherty as part of a broad inquiry into alleged payoff racketeering with aid from the state bureau of investigation. Airliner Falls in River and 21 Die
Army engineers located the wreckage of an American Airlines plane in the Mississippi River 15 miles south of Memphis. The craft, presumed to carry 21 passengers and a three member crew, with armed forces members among the passengers, crashed last night in a swift current between Cow Island and the Arkansas shore.
