Town farm bureau federation board plans a statement to deny its endorsement of the 100,004,000 statewide paying bond measure. President Charles F. Hearst said the resolutions from January were misinterpreted and a clarifying statement would be released this afternoon.
Washington county bar members and judges hosted about fifty guests to toast Judge Charles A. Dewey on his recent appointment as United States judge for the southern district of Town. Speakers from Iowa courts praised his career while he recalled his work with local lawyers. The event featured a dinner and Shields orchestra entertainment.
In Indianapolis today the panel for Governor Ed Jackson's conspiracy trial advanced quickly as tentative jurors increased from five to ten in under two hours. The state used two peremptory challenges, leaving four for the state and six for the defense.

Depositors contest fees as excessive. receivership and local fee standards are debated. Several witnesses testified for both sides. next term opens March 13 with OsKaloosa judge presiding. Curtis Bevins and Wilfred Balderson were sentenced to five years with suspended sentence for stealing chickens.
Walter C. Ramsay, secretary of state, dies suddenly in Des Moines. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Dunn funeral home, then burial in Belmond after services Sunday at the Presbyterian church. The body lies in state in the capitol rotunda from 9 a.m. to noon. A guard of honor will be posted by Adjutant General W. H. Bailey.
Former state senator Ed M. Smith of Winterset will be appointed secretary of state Monday if he accepts. Governor Hammill did not deny the consideration and plans a formal announcement Monday morning at the state house.
Lieutenant Colonel William W. Edwards after inspection of Troop G 118th Cavalry urged Washington to provide a riding hall for year round mounted drills. He noted Oskaloosa’s practice of renting a hall with state rent support and suggested a similar plan or other arrangements. Captain Crail’s unit, praised for excellent condition and high inspection ratings, would benefit from winter quarters and a riding hall to improve training and service records.
Rodney Crail, wintering in Washington, plans to leave next Monday to join the Rice Dorman Carnival in San Antonio Texas. The crew of 25 large sow equipment cars will tour all summer as part of the carnival and its side show and museum. Crail will pass through Kansas City to recruit before heading to Texas for the Southwestern livestock show opening March 3. He will bring a collection of animals to accompany the attraction.
