Fire destroys Mr Kelly's and Rush Street block in Chicago
A 300000 fire swept a two story block on Rush Street in Chicago destroying Mr Kelly's nightspot Carnegie Theatre and the 1001 Club along with a laundry, printing shop and other businesses. Seven firefighters injured two hospitalized as 75 units battled the blaze labeled the worst downtown fire in years by Fire Commissioner Robert J. Quinn.

Puffy-nosed bandit escapes with $2692 in Bank Robbery
In Council Bluffs Iowa an elderly man described as about 60, 5-10 with grey hair robbed the Council Bluffs Savings Bank. He handed a note demanding money and flashed a gun butt before fleeing with $2692. FBI agents 10 assigned to the case. The bank had not been robbed in 110 years. The teller noted a green jacket white shirt brown tweed coat and plastic-rimmed glasses. The search continued today.

Three Parsons students Injured in One Car Crash
Three Parsons college students were injured in a one car crash on highway number one ten miles south of Washington Tuesday afternoon. Dave F. Gilmartin of Glenview Illinois driven the car north on highway one behind a truck then tried to pass another car heading south. The car left the road hit a utility pole injuring all three. Gilmartin and Kenneth Foster Jr. were bruised and admitted to Washington County Hospital. Bob Engh suffered a broken pelvis and was taken to University Hospital in Iowa City. Charges of speeding were filed against Gilmartin. Damage was about 995 dollars.
