Ralph Young director announces a band concert at Washington high school auditorium Thursday February 14 at eight o'clock. The program features the high school and junior high bands each about 35 members. No admission fee and the public is invited.
Long and Hotle feed store enters the hatchery business with new Jamesway incubators installed and a hatchery room nearing completion. They will handle brooders feeders waterers and chicken remedies in addition to their feed operations. The full hatchery program will appear in the Journal early next week.

Orin Mobbs 77 of Columbus Junction died about 10 o clock this morning at Jellevue hospital Muscatine after several weeks illness. Funeral arrangements are pending at Stephens funeral home. Mobbs formerly lived in Muscatine and married Alice Dunn in 1940. she died 1943. He is survived by stepson Harry Paxton of Des Moines and step granddaughter Mrs Carrol Roberdee of Davenport.
A divorce suit was filed in district court by Harvey D. Kauffman against Kathryn J. Kauffman. The petition states they married on a date earlier and lived in Washington as husband and wife until June 10 1945, asking for a decree of divorce and further relief as equitable. Attorneys Swisher and Swisher of Lowe City represent the plaintiff.
In New York 7000 Western Union workers voted to resume work at 12:01 a.m. Monday, ending a 33 day strike. The action follows a two hour meeting at Manhattan Center and a agreement signed with company officials and union leaders. State Supreme Court Justice Aaron Levy announced the deal.

Funeral services for Bert Bolar are announced for 8:30 Monday at the L. A. Jones funeral home. Rev. T. C. Polk is in charge. Mr. Bolar died in Kansas City Missouri and was brother in law of Lloyd Goodwin whose address is 424 East Second Street. His wife was Dora Goodwin.
