Washington County Winter Market Hog Show Set

The annual event will occur Tuesday February 18 at the Washington Livestock Auction Market with weigh in from 5 to 7 p m. The show starts at 7 30 after a judging contest for H and FFA members and adults Swine producers from Washington and neighboring counties are invited to bring individual barrows A pickup class of six head includes three barrows All hogs will be slaughtered by Bath Packing Company and carcass data obtained.

St James Elementary Holds Open House for Education Week

St James Elementary School opened all classrooms today for visitors as part of a three day Catholic Education Week observance. The event invites the public to view kindergarten through sixth grade classes with further open hours planned Wednesday and Thursday during regular school hours.

Weather advisory for travelers with snow and cold

United Press International reports an advisory of possible rain or snow this afternoon turning to snow with heavy bursts at times and a drop in temperature tonight. Snow diminishing Wednesday with highs in the 20s and lows in the 20s, winds shifting from east to southeast to northwest. Probabilities of precipitation are 80 percent this afternoon, 70 percent tonight, and 50 percent Wednesday.

West Chester Fire Destroys Kelry Home

A frame house in West Chester occupied by the Kelry family was heavily damaged by flames starting around 5 p.m. Monday.
