King Saud of Saudi Arabia said the Arab world would accept Eisenhower's Middle East doctrine after its meaning is clarified to regional leaders. He indicated support for using U.S. arms to stop Communist penetration if Arabs understand the plan as explained to him. Jamal Bey Al-Hussaini confirmed the remarks during the New York Herald Tribune interview.

Funeral services for Joe A. Park 90 a longtime Hoopeston resident and railway mail clerk will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wood and Stocker Funeral Home Hoopeston with Rev. Herman Dam officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill cemetery. Park died Friday after a brief illness. He was born December 19 1866 in Hanover Illinois and survived by a son two daughters two sisters and several grandchildren.

Secretary of the Interior Fred Seaton will be a main speaker at the National Farm Institute in Des Moines February 15 and 16. He will address the banquet session February 15 as one of about 20 speakers including farm experts and officials. The event is sponsored annually by the Agricultural Committee of the Greater Des Moines Chamber of Commerce.
National Guard leaders said President Eisenhower assured them the Guard would not be destroyed or reduced materially in strength. Burton Hendershott, 74, Ottumwa farmer, was scheduled for arraignment on a first degree murder charge in his wife’s shotgun death on the couple's farm. The hearing was postponed to 1:30 p.m. after funeral services for Mrs. Hendershott. Authorities questioned his changing stories and noted no third party was in the home. A lie detector test was inconclusive due to age and high blood pressure. Mrs. Hendershott left three children from a prior marriage.
Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Harper is named one of five Iowa churches with awards of merit with distinction for outstanding community service in 1956. The church raised over 12500 dollars for renovations and hosts 301 to 500 members with seven youths starting farming through parish programs.

Rumfelt rushed from a house as the car driven by Chase passed, and Connor said he acted in self defense after Rumfelt pulled Chase from the car and held him on the ground.
