Two Oelwein Men Rob Bank at Oran
Two ex convicts from Oelwein robbed the Oran Savings Bank and were arrested 20 minutes later. Robert Street and Leslie Johnson, both 30 and 40 respectively, pleaded before a justice of the peace on robbery charges with aggravation. They planned the robbery after drinking at an Oran tavern and fled in a car but were stopped near Iowa 190 by Highway Patrolman Bob Ordt who took them into custody.

Ernie Edward Gabriel 77 of Wellman died this morning at his home after a period of ill health. Funeral services will be at Wellman Baptist Church Monday at 1 30 p.m. Rev Wayne Ferguson will preside. Burial will be in Wassonville Cemetery with Powell Funeral Home in charge. He was born March 3 1879 near Wellman to George and Mary Gabriel. He married Grace E Brown March 6 1907 and they lived on a farm until moving to Wellman two years ago. Survivors: Grace widow, two sons Roy and Wayne of Wellman, one daughter Jeannette. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
