Field station assessors in Washington are wrapping a busy week and will return next week on Main Street south of the courthouse. Taxpayers who have not reported for personal property tax assessments should do so before the end of next week. Deputy Sheriff John D. Reneger and Officer Lyle R. Captain earns Flying Cross for Vietnam heroism
Former Ainsworth resident Captain Grover F. Thompson received the Distinguished Flying Cross in Swabach Germany on January 11 for heroism above the call of duty in Vietnam. As aircraft commander on August 21 he rescued a downed crew under heavy fire near enemy positions, then guided a successful lift off. He also earned Oak Leaf Clusters for aerial support. Captain Thompson is the son of Mrs. Ivan Jarvis of rural Washington and the son-in- law of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Young of Washington.
