Traffic deaths rose, with over 350 fatalities in 1945.

Funeral services for John Swartzendruber 73 were held at the Mennonite church in Wellman with Rev George Miller officiating. Burial followed in the Mennonite cemetery. He died at his Wellman home after a long illness. married Ida Bissey in 1904 in Cherry Box Missouri, parents of a daughter and a son. The J W Powell funeral home directed arrangements.
