Riverside boy dies after accidental gun discharge
Dale Kenneth Lund, 12, of Riverside, died at Mercy Hospital Iowa City after being shot in the chest by his brother Steve while hunting. Steve slipped on a steep embankment causing the shotgun to discharge. Dale died a few hours after surgery. Dale was a seventh grade student at Highland Junior High and a member of the Methodist church Junior MYF. The funeral is Friday at 2 p.m. in Riverside Trinity Methodist Church with burial in Riverside cemetery. Sorden and Adams Funeral Home handling arrangements. a memorial fund was started. He is survived by his parents H Ernest and Frances Lund, four sisters, four brothers, and grandparents in Cedar Falls and Waterloo.

Mondia Airman Injured In Auto Crash At Carswell AFB
Airman Second Class Anthony Mondia of Washington is hospitalized at Carswell Air Force Base Texas after an automobile accident. He is described as in critical condition in one telegram and as out of the critical list in a later message. His brother Finley Mondia serves in the Marine Corps in Vietnam. The Cavaliers announce dancing for Washington Youth Center Saturday night January 1 from 8 to 11 p.m. for all high school age youths.

Rites near Wayland for Lillian Ricks
Funeral services for Lillian Ricks will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Cottonwood EUB Church near Wayland with burial in Cottonwood cemetery. County road paving bids opened in Iowa county
Iowa state highway officials will open bids in Ames on January 4 for Portland cement concrete pavement surfacing on a county farm to market road from Dublin to Talleyrand.
