Repair of Phone Service Restores West Chester Exchange

After several days without telephone service patrons of the West Chester Exchange regain near normal service today as repairs completed. Local crews completed line work and replaced damaged equipment restoring communications for residents and businesses.

133rd Infantry Band Delights Few At New Graham Gala

A Christmas season concert at the New Graham theatre drew a small audience due to holiday activities. The 86 member 133rd Infantry band performed jazz, classical and pop numbers with a Parsons college male quartet, ending with an engaging musical tableau.

Banks to consolidate in Dysart with 65000 capital

Plans for the consolidation of the First National Bank of Dysart and the Dysart Savings Bank with a combined capitalization of 65000 were nearly completed. Stockholders have approved and a meeting on January 27 will decide, after which the plan goes to the Comptroller of the Currency.

Fire damages Hoboken pier and vessels at Fletcher yard

Fire swept the Hoboken waterfront destroying one pier and two barges and badly damaging the Clyde liner Seneca. Firemen confined most of the blaze to Fletcher’s shipyards and to three barges before towing them away to prevent further spread.

Newton Man Faces Two Fraud Charges

Harry B. Allfree, once of Newton and now in Cincinnati, is set for February in Jasper County District Court on two fraud counts. Bond of $6,000 was posted.
