An early morning fire gutted Independence Wholesale Co across from the post office, with extensive smoke and water damage to adjacent McInteer Implement Co. Damage may reach $35,000. Fire officials said the blaze began about 4 30 a m and was under control about three hours later.

New Jersey man receives heart and lungs at New York Hospital
