Hodge Charged With Council Bluffs Murder
Kenneth Lee Hodge 28 of Council Bluffs faces first degree murder charges in the Christmas Day death of Harry Minds. Minds, found beaten in the JF Wilcox greenhouse, had $408 in a wallet removed. Hodge, an employee at Minds' workplace, led police to a smoking gun location behind Hoover School where the wallet was recovered.

Small World Balloon Believed Down Near Venezuela Delta
An air and sea search began for the Small World balloon after a late radio report said four crew members fed safely about 22 miles southeast of Pedernales in Delta Amacuro. The craft left Santa Cruz de Tenerife December 12 on a Columbus route crossing the Atlantic with Arnold Elkoart and his son Timothy among the occupants.
