Des Moines John W. Stonewaker United States Commissioner of Education announced 28 localities for the national public forum project demonstration centers. An emergency appropriation of 330000 dollars was allotted. Centers were chosen by a panel of prominent individuals convened in Washington D C.
Rev L G Ligutti leads a Granger homestead program named on the farm to keep the younger generation at home. The sponsor calls the plan a school project and says no funds will be used.
Members of the jury in the Edward L. O'Connor conspiracy trial prepared to resume hearings after a Christmas celebration featuring a yule tree gift exchange and two turkey dinners in Sioux City.
Barbara Nottger, seven, daughter of Mr and Mrs H Nottger of Waterloo, received a 30 inch high model doll house with bath electric refrigerator and furnishings as a gift from neighbor Techtmeier.
Bruce Champion, owner of a battery shop, died of heart disease at his home while standing before a Christ tree. He and his family had gathered with children to distribute presents when Champion suddenly fainted and collapsed.

Director Milburn McKay reports sixty members chosen for the county band with more applications expected from Wellman Riverside Wayland and Coppock. Washington aims to about 100 players now building toward a 200 member maximum with a waiting list after that.
Good Fellows committee of the Y's Men's Club led by Joh Lemmon arranged 58 large Christmas baskets for 58 families in Washington, plus 22 from Catholic Daughters of America.
