On the SS New York at sea, lifeboats from the Hamburg American liner aided by four ships including Europa and Mobiloil rescued all 16 crew members of the Norwegian freighter Sisto. Gale conditions hampered early efforts but crews braved towering waves to pluck sailors from the sea.
Minnie FE Jackson of Ainsworth widow of Fred HB Jackson died at her home on her 78th birthday after months of illness. Funeral arrangements place her body at L A Jones funeral home. Services set for 2:30 PM Friday at Ainsworth Methodist Church with burial in Ainsworth Cemetery.
