Des Moines UPI Gov. Robert D. Ray and staff are urged to study the Iowa Department of Transportation’s request for next year. DOT director Victor Preisser notes the request is 4 percent of the agency’s budget yet vital as the flexible income source. The department seeks nearly 12.8 million for 1977 78, about half of the current year’s funding, with most money from federal and road funds. A new 750000 plan targets small general aviation airports. three planes will join the state aircraft pool, including a long range plane to replace the governor’s. The one time 12 million 1976 allocation is not in next year’s budget.
