Prairie Flowers School will hold its annual Christmas program Friday from 1 15 to 2 pm with a musical playlette by students. A second meeting to organize a Lion's Club will be held Saturday at Ainsworth School at 6 30 pm.
Viet Cong shelled Saigon for the first time in four months as officials noted rising North Vietnamese infiltration that could signal a winter offensive. In Saigon area, 17 South Vietnamese were killed and 61 wounded after an ambush near a helicopter zone 51 miles southwest. A rocket strike hit a housing project killing four civilians and damaging homes. US headquarters reported two helicopters down, wounding five, as six waves of B52 bombers attacked infiltration corridors north of Saigon to disrupt troop concentrations.
United Press International reports mostly cloudy skies across Iowa tonight with lows from 10 to 15 degrees in the north and into the 20s in the southern area. Thursday brings partly cloudy skies and a slight warmup with highs in the 30s to the 40s depending on location.

The union had indicated earlier the contract offer had been accepted but later disputed that claim.
Iowa Governor Robert D. Ray told Republican leaders that the minimum voting age should drop from 21 to 19 to give youth a voice in government. He outlined a reform agenda including driver license photos, court reform, higher retiree benefits, an ombudsman, and increased workers compensation as conditions for 1972 presidential voting eligibility.
Parsons College in Fairfield Iowa announced a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Administration as the first major in a new Department of Transportation. Robert L Tree vice president for academics said courses start August 1970 to train students for management roles in the aviation sector with business background and aircraft industry knowledge.
