Washington officials urge all bicycle owners to license their two wheelers before January 1 1970. Licenses issued by the city police require color make and serial number for identification. Licenses help reduce theft and aid in recovery of stolen bikes.
In Clacton an 11 year old offender is placed in the bus trunk by driver Robert Lancaster after being hit by pellet. Lancaster pleads guilty to assault and is fined 12 dollars. Des Moines council pledges 20000 toward a 75000 vaccination drive for Polk County.
Panama City officials report Brig. Gen. Omar Torrijos reaffirmed control within a day of a coup attempt by two national guard colonels. The colonels were jailed following a brief outbreak of gunfire as the political crisis subsided.
United Press International reports Iowa will be generally fair with a warming trend. Lows range from zero to 5 above in the northeast to the 20s in the southwest, while highs rise to near 40 in the northeast and near 50 in the southwest.Thursday looks partly cloudy with little temperature change.
Iowa officials consider dissolving the full time liquor commission and replacing it with a single administrator under a new five member advisory board. Gov. Ray endorses the plan, though the commission has not received a written report. Action could come in January legislature ahead of the February final form.
