Brighton Man Dies In Jefferson County Home
Dwight Wilkins 86 of the Brighton community died Monday evening at the Jefferson County Home where he had entered days earlier. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton, Rev. Roger Williams officiating. He was born June 19, 1872 in Washington County, son of Benjamin F. and Jane Moore Wilkins. He lived all his life in Louisa County and the Brighton area. Survivors include two brothers Earl of Clinton and William of Council Bluffs, and two cousins Oral Long of Washington and Gary Long of Olds.

Washington County Hospital announced a gift of 1000 from the Washington County Health Improvement Association to fund a new delivery table. The balance of 335 was paid from hospital operating funds. The association, formed by Blue Cross subscribers, was reorganized with new officers headed by Mrs. J H Jones.

Hog House Fire Kills 22 Hogs on Ainsworth Farm
Ainsworth area. A hog house on the Clive Klopfenstein farm about one mile north of Ainsworth burned Monday evening, killing 22 pigs inside. Mrs. Klopfenstein said they saw flames around 8 15 and called the fire department. Firefighters saved nearby structures but could not save the building or animals. Cause suspected to be hot lamps used to heat water tanks.

Iowa Woman Killed When Car Hits Bridge
A 68 year old Persia Iowa woman Christine Sophia Choneich was killed when her car driven by her husband Charles crashed into the railing of a bridge on Iowa 92 six miles east of Greenfield. The husband and an unidentified three year old boy were hospitalized. Sheriff Don Foster said the boy may be Carleton Lee Adams, a Choneich grandchild. He cited possible sun blindness as the crash cause.
