He concealed Ella Harris, 44, an escapee on a life term, found in a Kirkville basement. Harris, formerly of Davis City, was arrested at her daughter's home, Mrs. Frank Miller, as Johnson alias Roy Nelson was also taken. Harris to be returned to Rockwell City.

British night raid of about 500 heavy bombers struck Ludwigshafen near the Rhine, targeting the Farben chemical works and a major freight yard. Chinese Troops Reach Hochin Area in Kwangsi Province
Chungking reports Chinese troops have moved into Hochin area in northern Kwangsi about 100 miles west of Liuchow. US 14th Air Force says it destroyed 14 Japanese planes in the week to December 14 and damaged or probably destroyed 30 more with no American loss. It also notes sinking 12,406 tons of enemy shipping and a Japanese destroyer attacked in Hong Kong harbor by Mustang fighters on December 8.
