Rites Saturday for Mrs. A. E. Warner in Washington
Funeral services for Mrs. A. E. Warner of Washington will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at Jones Funeral Home with the Rev. Lloyd Latta presiding. burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery at Fort Madison. Mrs. Warner died December 13, 1962, at 608 North Iowa Avenue, Washington, from infirmities of old age. Born Alice S. Terrell February 21, 1864 in Henry County, she married Will Rogers (died years ago) and in 1928 married A. E. Warner (died March 1952). She had lived in the area since 1930 and was a Methodist. Survivors include daughter Carrie Cahill of Vero Beach, Florida, and a son Joel.

City Employees Enjoy Annual Holiday Dinner
About 30 Washington city employees attended the annual Christmas dinner at city hall on Thursday evening. They shared a bounteous menu with turkey and ham, bringing dishes to pass and desserts. John Custer acted as chef assisted by Mr. Custer and Lloyd Conger. The meal was served in the firemen's hall in the city hall basement.

Toe in Denver faucet strands college freshman
Linda Jane Hinchman a 17 year old freshman at Colorado Womens College Glenwood Indiana was bathing when she tried to twist her water faucet toe. Denver firemen rushed to the scene sawed off the faucet and freed her toe with petroleum jelly. She kept the faucet as a souvenir.
