President Truman plans to declare a national emergency by Saturday after a nationwide address tonight. He accelerated talks with congressional leaders on war mobilization, home front measures, and possible wage price controls.
Mrs Earl Ferguson of Crawfordsville died today at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after a period of illness. The body will be taken to Jones Funeral Home. funeral arrangements were not available at this time.
Washington County farmers may buy CCC corn stored in county bins under the 1948 1949 loan program. Price in December is 1.57 per bushel. Corn sales limited to local feeding use. truckload lots or larger. A bin supervisor will oversee loading weighing and same day settlement. About 860000 bushels stored across ten bin sites.
