Martin Heits husen, a farmer living six miles northeast of Williamsburg, was killed Sunday when a gun discharged accidentally and struck him in the head. Heitshusen had been hunting and while returning home laid the gun across a fence, where it discharged. the body was taken to McSwiggin Funeral home in Williamsburg.
Fire in Indianola at 12:45 a.m. razed two one story structures housing the Indianola Record and Tribune and the Warren county Farm Bureau office. Loss about 40000 dollars. Cause undetermined. Publisher Don L. Berry activated temporary Des Moines publishing for both weeklies.

Dennis Lynch of Clear Lake Iowa completed a deal to purchase the Coast to Coast store from Mr and Mrs John Wietzke. Lynch takes possession immediately but the Wietzkes stay a week to help with the Christmas rush. The Wietzkes will return to Greenfield Iowa. Lynch has been a Coast to Coast supervisor for five years and with the company eight years. He is married with a ten month old son Patrick. Mrs Lynch and child will relocate to Washington when a home is found. Lynch enjoys home movies.
Universal Bible Sabbath was observed at the United Presbyterian church yesterday. Rev George Kerr preached in the morning on the need for church members to read their Bibles. In the evening from seven to eight thirty young peoples societies read the life of Christ from the Bible with many boys and girls taking part, replacing the usual evening preaching service.

Ten boys aged 18 in Washington county had registered with the selective service board by noon Friday. The list includes Wilber Troyer Wellman Donald Saforek Richmond Prebyl Donald Brenner Riverside Maynard Schneider Truman Weaver Eli Nissley Clarence Cross Richard Bordwell and Paul Shettler. A group left for induction tests and are due to depart for active service December 19, with two entering service immediately. Some failed medical exams and were not accepted for the army.
