Iowa completes I 80 toll free through the state
Des Moines reports two dedication ceremonies open the final I 80 stretches in central and western Iowa. A liquid propane gas truck leak prompted evacuations of about two blocks in Dyersville Iowa as 1600 gallons of gas were vented after a valve broke during loading. Fire and police extinguished flames and restricted access while residents remained away until wind dispersed the vapors. In Clarion a runaway car hit a natural gas regulator cutting service to 150 homes and destroying a two week old vehicle with flames leaping 25 feet.
