He served with General Patton's third army in the Saarbrucken area, overseas since early September after training at Camp Roberts California. The telegram, sent to his father John A. Bennell of Kalona, notes he left farming to volunteer for induction. He is 23 years old.

Box Purchases Congress Hotel
Ray Box has bought the Congress hotel business and furnishings and equipment and will take possession January 1. He buys from Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Peterson who have run the hotel for years. The building is leased from Harvey and Wartfel for a number of years. Box plans to reopen the hotel restaurant and will announce further plans about the business under his management.
