Poland and Lithuania Reach Secret Peace Agreement

At a Geneva council session, Marshal Pilsudski of Poland and Voldemaras of Lithuania agreed to end seven years of war status. Pilsudski pressed for peace and left, while Zaleski will draft terms. The pact aims to restore normal relations between the two nations.

County Board Names Appointments for County Employees

At yesterday's session the Washington county board of supervisors named Will Sickles as janitor of the courthouse and Dr E T Wickham as county home physician. The board hired Robert S Welte and H G McBride to manage county machinery and perform road work. Further officer and employee appointments were postponed to a later meeting.

Death notice of Belle Davis of Chicago era resident

Former resident Belle Davis, daughter of the late J R and Melissa E Davis and sister of Miss Davis, is noted to have died in Chicago. She once lived in this city and the family owned the home now occupied by Miss Ella Chilcote. J R Davis, longtime M E church chorister, was a known local figure.

Lindbergh Honored by House With Medal and Recess

The House of Representatives paid tribute to Charles A. Lindbergh with a rare recess and then awarded him the congressional medal of honor. Lindbergh received tumultuous cheers as members crowded the Speaker's rostrum to shake his hand, following presentation of the medal bill by Representative Cochran for Representative Snell.

Roumania moves to curb anti Hungarian riots

Vienna reports Roumanian authorities banned nationwide student demonstrations to prevent renewed bloodshed amid riots on the Hungarian frontier. Earlier clashes at Grosswardein caused eight deaths according to Hungarian refugees, while no fatalities were reported in later unrest. a Budapest paper claimed captain Gottfried Keller, an American emissary, was insulted and stabbed at Grosswardein.

Divorce Decree Granted in Jones Case Custody and Support Assigned

Judge D W Hamilton granted Mrs Stella A Jones a decree from Clennie C Jones. Mrs Jones gains custody of two minor children with reasonable visitation for Mr Jones, and notification if they are sick. Mr Jones must pay $30 monthly child support to the district court clerk starting March 1 1928, plus costs and a $200 attorney fee as part of costs. The plaintiff receives all personal effects. children produced in court and placed in Mrs Jones custody. The trial lasted days and drew local spectators from Columbus Junction.

Des Moines reports warn of a brief cold wave sweeping Iowa this weekend. Temperatures drop to zero in eastern and central areas tonight and Sunday, with Des Moines recording a five degree decline from a warmer period earlier.

Domestic troubles blamed for death by own action

Bedford Iowa December 10. A. J. Warner 43 wealthy Taylor county farmer shot and killed his wife Yazel Warner as she left home with their two month old baby. Warner then killed himself. The coroner said the baby was unharmed and an inquest may not be held. The brother cited several weeks of marital trouble and noted no financial difficulties.

Youthful orchestra shines in Il Trovator e Opera

The troupe conducted by Milburn McKay presented an operetta with strong audience response. The orchestra performed well especially in Il Trovatore with suitable scenery and colorful costumes enhancing the show. Government Seeks Peace in Bituminous Coal Strike

The federal government steps into the western and central Pennsylvania, northwest Virginia, and Ohio coal strike, calling a meeting between mine operators and the United Mine Workers of America.
