Two rural Washington men escaped serious injury Sunday after cars driven by Raymond Earl Carter and William Scott Wilcox collided at an intersection about one mile south of Highway 92 and a half mile east of the airport road. Carter’s car sustained about $800 damage while Wilcox’s suffered roughly $250. Wilcox was thrown from his vehicle but not seriously hurt.
Dr Edward J Vosicka is expected to arrive in Washington later this month to establish a medical practice in the former offices of the late Dr R V Owen. He previously practiced near Council Bluffs and has been at Orland Park Illinois. He is married with four children.
Washington County Extension Service staff members attend the annual Iowa cooperative extension conference in Ames from today through Thursday. Participants include Extension Director Tom Robb Home Economist Marilyn Schweitzer and Assistant Extension Director Merritt Canady. The meeting will cover human aspects of social action teaching and educational growth with speakers Gerhard Wiebe and Herbert True addressing creativity and people in extension work.
President Eisenhower will undergo a full scale medical examination at the White House Tuesday afternoon to decide whether he should attend the Paris NATO council meeting. He has been resting since Thursday night and is expected to return to Washington later today.

The weekend snow on Iowa highways claimed three lives, lifting 1957 fatalities to 630. Oscar Boeder of Omaha died near Early after colliding with a semi driven by John Lang of Rockwell City. Clifford Fishback of Des Moines perished when his car struck a bridge abutment near Johnston and plunged into Beaver Creek. Kenneth Hocamp of Adair died after his car skidded on US 6 near Anita and rolled over into a ditch.
Washington United Presbyterian Church elected five ruling elders during a post service meeting. New elders are Robert Brewer Robert Verder rs Milford Knutson Dr J F Mallory and George Masson Jr. Expiring terms include Jay Brewer Arthur Duensing Marion George John Owen and Melvin Hill who has left the community.
The Rev A W McBlain 89 formerly of West Chester Columbus Junction Wapello Wilton and Russell died Friday December 6 in Grinnell He was born in Scotland began serving in Iowa in 1896 and retired in 1940 Survivors include his widow and their son the Rev Robert McBlain pastor of the Methodist Church at Adella
Officers of the Washington County Hospital medical staff were re elected at today’s annual meeting. Dr C A Boice was named president with Dr M L McCreedy as vice president and Dr W Kyle as secretary. Dr Boice also became president of the Washington County Medical Society. Dr D G Sattler of Kalona was named delegate to the state medical society with Dr Boice as alternate. Dr T M Mast was chosen county vice president and Dr G J Nemmers secretary following Dr Kyle’s 24 years in that post.
Rep. Leroy Chalupa urged Gov. Loveless to call a special session to enact building funds for Iowa schools to meet Soviet scientific advances. He argued for re-enacting appropriations while noting limited chances of tax compromise after Loveless vetoes. Loveless was in Washington with limited comment.
