A mob in KOUNCZE Texas burned the body of David Gregory an Black ex convict accused of attacking and killing Mrs Nelly Will i the mob blocked highways and dragged sliced and burned his body before tossing it on a funeral pyre amid calls for further violence as officers struggled to intervene.
Miss Katherine Flynn, county recorder, received notice from Horace Tate of the drivers license department that the law was amended to extend all operator licenses expiring on December 31, 1933 to December 31, 1935.
Rollo L. Essley died yesterday at his sister Mrs. Mae Kauffman’s home near Wayland after illness at his Coppock area farm. He is survived by his mother Mrs. Hannah Fissley and three sisters and a brother. Funeral plans await arrival of brother Wilmer Essley from El Reno Oklahoma. Born December 25 1883 he would have turned fifty this Christmas. Cause of death diabetes and heart trouble.
Davenport volleyball players won the meet last night defeating Ottumwa and Washington. Ottumwa was second and Washington third. The local team struggled and suffered drubbings from both visitors while Davenport showed clear superiority over Ottumwa.

City Marshal William Mohland reported that 17 men were sheltered at the jail in City Hall last night the season's largest number. Four of the 17 were colored with patterns of weekly dormitory counts showing a mix of negroes and whites. Community kitchen meals served breakfast before these men were sent on.
Approval was given today by the Town civil works administration at Des Moines of the third quarry to be established in Washington county for the purpose of employing 76 additional men starting next Tuesday. The quarry will be located on the Ralph Brinning farm near Grace Hill about 500 feet from the first quarry established by the county several months ago. It is a separate deposit of rock and will be operated distinct from the original project. County relief authorities are completing work on selection of the men to be used on this project and the men will be notified of their selection prior to the day work is to start, it was said by Chairman Carl W. Klein of the county relief committee. Opening of this quarry will add $1 140 to the weekly payroll of civil works projects in Washington county and will bring the number of unemployed given jobs on such projects to 10 990. The rock taken from the three quarries two at Grace Hill and one south of town will when crushed be placed on county roads and town streets.

Washington residents attend the Sidney Howard play at the university theater with Wednesday and Thursday performances this week and a 2 40 pm matinee on Saturday December 4. Manager Ralph Pratt targets December 22 for reopening of the State theater damaged by fire. Work on the ceiling is finished and decorators are at work on the walls. Carpenters are due to complete soon. Replaced seats expected by December 12. Sound equipment arrives next week and lighting effects will be installed. Progress is rapid and the interior will be greatly improved.

The Iowa Senate approved a House resolution urging President Roosevelt and Secretary Wallace to stop packers from passing processing taxes onto farmers.
