Gemini 7 astronauts shed space suit in bold in orbit
Astronaut James Lovell shed his spare suit during Gemini 7's 29th orbit while Frank Borman stayed suited. Gemini control played Fly Me To The Moon and Frank Sinatra as the two American space twins continued their two week voyage toward a million miles. The crew slept for seven hours, a first for two Americans in space, and Lovell planned to orbit in underwear in a later maneuver. Ground teams prepared for a possible Gemini 6 rendezvous with Gemini 7 by December 13, as the mission nears its planned 206 orbits and distant milestones.

Marion Bain aged 16 and Robert Simmering aged 15 were honored as the outstanding Journal carrier boys of 1965 at a party dinner. Each received a gold watch numbered 57 and 58 in a long-running series started in 1909. The event at Captain's Table included cash awards for runners-up, a one-dollar attendance prize, YMCA memberships, and a bingo session.
