A Des Moines man was denied an old age pension after officials found he holds $6,000 in securities and a $5,000 home. The audit revealed the assets disqualify him from relief.
Former major league pitcher Grover Cleveland Alexander passed through Iowa City this noon aboard an Interstate Transit Lines bus en route to Davenport. He was on a sightseeing detour while traveling.
Mrs. Zearfoss remained in Traer for three days due to blizzard blocked roads. The funeral procession reached Keota after a long detour when Tama area roads again closed, forcing a 75 mile reroute to Traer.
John Nissen a farmer near Maquoketa was severely hurt Tuesday after slipping on ice and falling onto a gasoline engine. His coat caught in the machine pulling him in and stripping his clothing, with several ribs broken and a dislocated shoulder.
Cedar Rapids nine thousand five hundred three students will receive school savings accounts totaling 26 798 dollars held in trust from the closed American Trust and Savings bank. District court authorized State Superintendent D W Bates receiver to pay the accounts.

Mr and Mrs J M Streff move with children Michael and Monica to 902 South Iowa Avenue Washington. Streff becomes assistant manager at Montgomery Ward in Washington after relocating from Iowa City where he led the shoe department. He grew up in Fort Dodge and previously ran shoe stores across the Midwest before joining Ward at Webster City. Michael, eight, is nicknamed Mickey and Monica, four, is known as Monnie.
Dr Wickham died at 69 at his daughter's home in Waterloo. Funeral services set for 2 p m Saturday at Sherman funeral home conducted by Dr W W Bowers. Interment at Ainsworth. He practiced medicine here many years and lived with his daughter after health declined. Mrs Wickham died in 1920. Full obituary to follow tomorrow. The party arrives this evening.
