A Beloit Wisconsin explosion from a leaky gas main caused a fire that wiped out four stores in the business district. Damage was about 750000. Patrolman Lester Sheehan was injured by flying glass as the Rockford Illinois fire department aided and the flames could not be stopped.

William John Mumper a former Washington resident died at his Davenport Iowa home after a week long pneumonia illness He worked at the Club cigar store and was known as Billy Mumper He was born in 184 and moved to Davenport thirty years ago He left a daughter Minnie Mumper of Montana and siblings Albert B Charles Minnie Kellneberger of Honolulu The funeral was held in Davenport last Wednesday.

Bids cover earth excavation pavement and flumes across several mileages with additional graveling and a single gravel contract in Keokuk county.
In Creston Iowa Ernest Pratt 17 of Cromwell was held on manslaughter and driving while intoxicated charges related to the death of 17 year old Mark Wiser. Pratt faces a lethal accident case after a drunken driving incident near Cromwell. The incident prompted local police to detain Pratt as investigators pursue charges.

Three Iowa men Myron Martin Clarence Perry Harris Damon were arrested in San Antonio Texas in connection with the second St Benedict bank robbery. Martin named as leader and drove operations while aiding others. The November 14 robbery netted about 200 dollars.
