Air Medal Awarded to Capt Carl Yoder in Vietnam
Capt Carl C. Yoder, son of Mr and Mrs Glenn C Yoder of Washington, earned the Air Medal for meritorious achievement in sustained aerial flight in support of combat ground forces in Vietnam from May 6 to July 7. He completed more than twenty five missions over hostile territory, displaying discipline and professionalism. Death Toll Rises From Keokuk Armory Blast
Keokuk Iowa police say the Thanksgiving Eve explosion at the National Guard Armory has raised the death toll to 16 with two more victims. Ruth Anderson and Randy Thompson died in Iowa City and Keokuk hospitals respectively, as state investigators say gas buildup sparked by a hot water heater likely caused the blast. Ray Beckett died at Mercy Hospital in Burlington, bringing the latest tally to 16 and leaving four children orphaned.

Merle Lytle Dies Today at Washington County Hospital
Merle Lytle of 803 West Main Street died this morning December 3 1965 at Washington County Hospital after a three year illness. Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 30 p m at Jones Funeral Home with Rev M O Smith in charge. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery. He was born in Washington County to J Alexander and Victoreen Cunningham Lytle and lived here and in Des Moines. He attended the University of Chicago and married Pleatus Burgess in 1914, who died in 1929. he later married Edna Orr on June 28 1935. Lytle was a salesman for the American Pearl Button Co for many years and belonged to the Methodist Church Masonic Lodge Alpha Delta Phi fraternity and other groups. Surviving are his wife one brother Luther of Webster Groves Missouri a son Billy Alex and a daughter Mary Ellen who preceded him in death.
