Two young dolls dressed as Demon drill team members hold pride of place in a fundraiser by the Washington Community School District. The National Bank of Washington will auction 150 donated dolls on Sunday December 11 from 10 a.m. with the sale starting at 2 p.m. Proceeds support new band uniforms.

Santa Claus to visit Conger House this December weekends
Santa or his helper will visit Conger House on Saturday and Sunday December 3 4 and 10 11 in the afternoon. Mrs Claus has baked gingerbread men in the old brick oven for Santa to pass out to young visitors. Area children are invited to drop by for a visit with Santa and a sample of the cookies.

Vehicle damaged on highway prompts safety notice
Sheriff officers found a damaged 1971 yellow Ford Maverick parked on highway 218 south of Highland School after a 3 15 a.m. call from a C B radio user. The car had $2 000 in damage with all windows broken and body damage from a steel bar near the scene. Owner not located by noon.

Holden named to National Bank of Washington board
Harvey Holden, longtime Washington area farmer and community leader, was named Thursday to the board of directors of the National Bank of Washington. Holden, elected to the Washington city council, has 30 years of farming north of the city and previously served as vice president of Farm Services Inc. He is active in agri business, Farm Bureau, Rotary and United Presbyterian Church. Taunce H. Mathiason, bank president, praised Holden's agricultural experience and business acumen, noting his commitment to local development. Holden’s appointment follows Keith L. Vetter’s election to the board on July 21, as the bank seeks deeper community involvement.
