Choirs to Present Sacred Music Festival Sunday
Choirs from several Washington churches will present a festival of sacred music at Washington Community High School gym Sunday December 4 at 8 pm under director Robert Ferrell with Mrs William Stewart as accompanist The program opens at 7 45 pm with Christmas selections by a brass sextet and ends with Handel Hallelujah Chorus backed by organ and brass singers read the Christmas story and audience carols. An offering will cover concert music costs. Culminating pieces include A Child Is Born in Bethlehem and O Come Emmanuel among others.

Medical Care Costs 10 Million for Iowa
A Iowa study committee heard that under the Eisenhower federal plan the aged medical care would cost about 10 million dollars. Mount Pleasant Man Killed After Mailing Letter
Alfred Ross of Mount Pleasant was killed when he stepped into the path of a car while mailing a letter at a rural mailbox on US 34 about six miles west of Mount Pleasant. Elmer Lamb of Salem was driving the fatal vehicle, and Ross had just left a truck driven by Stan McBeth when he stepped into the roadway.

The Iowa forecast calls for generally fair skies and a gradual warming tonight into Saturday with lows from 25 to 35 degrees and highs around 50 to 55. Sunday should be partly cloudy and mild with a five day trend favoring above normal temperatures through Wednesday and a warming period followed by a mild then cooler turn with showers early in the week.
