Funeral services set for Monday at 2 pm in East Union Mennonite Church for Danilo J Guengerich 71 of Kalona who died at 5 am after a year long illness. He was born April 10 1879 in Johnson County son of Jacob D and Lydia Guengerich longtime resident of Johnson and Washington counties. He married Beth er Thompson in 1915 who died October 1948. Washingtonian Hurt In Muscatine Crash
Harry Schimmelpfennig of route one Washington received minor injuries in an auto crash eight miles south of Muscatine on highway 61 at 5 o clock last night. He started to pass another car and collided head on with a machine driven by Mary Lee Whitteman of Muscatine. Both cars sustained about 800 dollars damage. Mrs Mary F Whitteman, riding with Miss Whitteman, was admitted to Bellevue hospital with fractures of the skull shoulder forearm and right hip socket. She is resting comfortably. Schimmelpfennig had facial lacerations and bruises but no hospital treatment is needed. Ruth Fletcher took the morning bus to Crawfordsville for the weekend.

A fire destroyed the Club 59 night club on Cherokee's south edge. Owner Reuben Peterson estimated losses over 26000 with less than half insured. Firemen fought the blaze for about four hours in freezing conditions, saying it likely started in a storeroom from spontaneous combustion.
