Jon J. Young, an architect from South Milwaukee, was shot while hunting near Crivitz, Wisconsin. He crawled, swam the Peshtigo River, and, after a two hour vigil, reached Crivitz as helpers finally came to aid him. He wrote his name in blood on a stone.
Newton C Dougherty once superintendent of Peoria schools and bank president faced embezzlement charges totaling possibly one million dollars. He arrived at Joliet penitentiary to start an undetermined sentence of one to fourteen years after a quiet transfer. He was photographed and measured, then sent to a prison doctor for exam. He will likely work in a clerical role.
Weather reports from Cincinnati dated November 30 describe heavy flood damage across Ohio river points. At Carrollton Kentucky a flood overnight caused about thirty thousand dollars in damage as gasoline launches were swept away and many logs carried downstream.

One charge alleges a stock subscription fraud scheme, the other a conspiracy to defraud the government of postage funds. The action follows months of post office inspector testimony and a fraud order against the bank.

Henry Anson founder of Marshalltown IA and early central Iowa settler died of pneumonia. He was the father of Adrian C. Anson of Chicago, noted as the first white child born in Marshall County.
