AVERSA Italy December 1 General Anton Dostler of the German army was executed today by a 12 man American firing squad for the murder without trial of 15 American OSS men. Dostler, 54, was the first German general tried and convicted by the western allies as a war criminal. He died at No 1 stockade in a stoic soldierly manner. The men were executed for authorizing the killing of 15 Americans behind German lines in northern Italy in March 1944 while they wore American uniforms without insignia.
