Crandic will run through Cedar Rapids to Keokuk via new pavement on road 161, bypassing Kalona Washington while a car serves W Angton to Ainsworth. Buses depart Washington for Oskaloosa at 7:00 am, 2:00 pm, and 5:20 pm, with arrivals from Oskaloosa pending.

Des Moines reports plans to patrol state borders to detect bootlegging of gasoline. State Treasurer Ray E. Johnson said patrols will be expanded with extra men to determine if trucks move gasoline across borders without reporting taxable movement. The effort includes checking exporters to see if states are evading the Iowa gas tax. Mrs. J. E. Draper, about 65, died at eleven o'clock this morning at Washington county hospital after a diabetes illness. She was taken to the hospital yesterday evening and body taken to Sherman’s funeral home for burial preparations. Funeral plans were undecided. placement of time and place expected tomorrow. Mrs. Draper and her son Verle Draper lived three and one half miles south of Washington.
