B 52 Bombers Stage Twin Raids On Viet Nam
B 52 bombers from Guam conducted two separate raids in South Viet Nam against Viet Cong concentrations. The strikes followed a Communist attack on An Hoa, which government troops retook with reinforcements. No Americans were injured in the An Hoa fighting.

Rites Wednesday for Mrs. Emma Wenger
Funeral services for 95 year old Emma Wenger of Wayland were held at the Wayland Mennonite Church with Rev. Walter Neufeldt officiating. Burial followed at North Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Wenger, a Pleasant View Home resident since 1958, died August 30 after a three week illness. She was born June 18, 1870 in Henry County, daughter of Peter and Tina Beckler, widow of Samuel Wenger. Survived by son Ezra of Chicago, four grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Zehr Funeral Home of Wayland directed arrangements and welcomes calls.

Rescue teams bomb glacier to free Mattmark victims
Swiss rescue crews paused at Mattmark Dam as veteran glacier pilot Hermann Geiger bombed the Allalin Glacier with 700 pounds of explosives to loosen ice threatening 99 workers buried after the 500,000 ton avalanche.
