Mr Pleasant clothing thieves entered Higaonsai Ic es and Hoaglins department store here and escaped with a dozen suits and 15 pairs of shoes. Estimates indicated when the theft was discovered.
State Center boy State Center-Winnifred Richeson, 17, a farmer's son, killed himself with a .22 rifle in the basement of the family home. His parents heard the shot from the next room.
Des Moines reports of fairground vendors filling bottles from restroom taps and selling water to overheated grand stand patrons. Police could not substantiate the claim though large amounts of water were consumed on the hot day.
Charles City area schools near here did not open on Monday morning at St. Charles No. 4 and Cedar No. 2. Pupils gathered while teachers Theressa and Ella Mae Echoff did not appear after their car, driven by Ella Mae, collided with a second vehicle driven by H. P. Weber at a street intersection. The Echoff sisters suffered cuts and bruises.
John Lang found a burning rear seat cushion in his car and drove to the fire station. Firemen extinguished the small blaze with little damage.
The Cedar Rapids council passed a resolution on Sept 16 authorizing sale of 30000 in park and fire equipment bonds. Of the funds 17000 will buy a new aerial ladder fire truck and 13000 will fund Ellis park sanitary improvements and Hawkeye Downs construction support.

Miss Lavina Noble aged 22 wed Delmar Evans Clark 29 of AnkeDby in a water works park ceremony during the Noble family reunion in Des Moines. Over 40 relatives from Des Moines Burlington Oskaloosa St Anthony and Denver witnessed the single ring rite conducted by Rev. Paul McDade of Asbury Methodist Episcopal Church.

Supt H E Ross of Wellman was chosen president and Supt H V Snodgrass was elected secretary of the county school heads organization at a meeting last night. Krabill said all rural schools in the county now have teachers. Inez Schoonover was elected teacher of the Allbough school in Highland township, the last remaining post filled.
Washington Chamber of Commerce boosters invite a Muscatine Labor Day gathering to organize No. 2 Highway advocates. The route links Beloit Wisconsin to Council Bluffs Iowa and Chicago via Rock Island Moline and Sterling Illinois and Beloit Wisconsin, with a planned dedication and banquet in Muscatine.
C G Schmoeller and brother A B Schmoeller were in a wreck while en route to Delevan for a centennial celebration. C G suffered cuts and bruises and will take weeks to recover. A B remained in Illinois on car matters. wife had gone earlier. No other serious injuries reported. Ainsworth plans homecoming events Sept 2 3 4 with parades races displays and concerts featuring machinery displays from International Harvester and Allis Chalmers.
Mrs. Tom Stanbery, aged 64, died at her son George Stanbery’s Fort Madison home after a brief illness. The heart condition mentioned in the telegram is not specified as the cause. The deceased had spent much time at her son’s residence and had recently traveled there.
She is 64 years old. Mr and Mrs George Stanberg plan to leave this evening for Fort Madison as funeral plans remain unknown.
A Greyhound bus collision six miles north of Goshen Indiana killed seven people and injured about 36 others. The bus carrying passengers from Chicago to New York overturned and burst into flames after tumbling end over end. flames were fought by bus line workers and passengers to rescue those trapped. Names identified included Allison Bishop of Cincinnati and John M Heinsohn of Buffalo among others.
Delbert Bailey manager of the Washington Concert band reports the barn frolic at Casefield last Thursday to Saturday earned $70.95. Only 23.5 percent left town, with the rest staying in Washington. Expenses exceeded $125 spent locally.
Dr. E L Walsh and Dr. W S Kyle ordered quarantine of the Lytle home on West Main as a poliomyelitis scare prompted serum treatment for infantile paralysis. The case, that of Mary Ellen Lytle, is reportedly responding to care, with authorities watching for further cases and closing the M C C A building briefly.
