Winong Heater, daughter of Mr and Mrs Claude Heater of Coon Rapids, remains in critical condition at St Anthony hospital. Doctors say recovery unlikely after a gravel truck ran over her pelvis and broke a thigh while she played on a rock pile beside the road. witnesses report she slipped as the truck passed.
Roy Gardner, 34, of Riverton, carries out a deception by removing his shoe and lying on the highway to simulate a hit and run. He has a deformed left leg from a Riverton shooting, and motorists often stop to give him a ride to the next town.
Des Moines figures from 1935 show 6,566 male drivers in accidents versus 515 female drivers in the first six months, per records of Mrs. Alex Miller secretary of state.

Des Moines August 28 The Democratic State Central Committee adopted a resolution demanding E J Feuling of New Hampton file with the secretary of state a complete and accurate accounting of funds received and spent during his administration. The committee asserted Feuling failed to properly account for party finances and urged strict enforcement of campaign accounting laws. Chairman G A Birmingham urged frequent publication of party finances and appealed for funds.
