No Polio Deaths at University Hospital
Iowa City report from Harold A. Smith states no infantile paralysis deaths this season at the State University of Iowa hospital. Soldiers En Route Fed By Estherville People
More than 7,000 servicemen traveling through Estherville on troop trains have received refreshments at the station from volunteer workers in the last six weeks. Donated homemade cookies, milk and ice cream were served to about 1,000 soldiers Friday. The Emmet county Red Cross and U.S. O. finance the project. Workers also provide reading material, book matches, playing cards and postcards to each group.

The Associate Presbyterian Church synod decided to hold its 1946 gathering August 21 at the Four Mile congregation near Pittsburgh, Pa. The session adjourned Saturday after a week of routine church business. Yesterday morning Rev. H. W. Orr of Smith's Ferry Pa delivered the sermon and in the evening Rev. Child Strangling Death Near Fairfield Swing
Donald Earl Knechler sixteen month old son of Mr and Mrs Albert Knechler of Fairfield was found dead in a rope swing at the Ira Stout home late yesterday afternoon after a family reunion visit. Coroner Dr W S Kyle said the child likely caught his neck in the rope and strangled himself. Surviving are the parents two brothers and a sister. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Mark Hoskins funeral home of Fairfield.

Judge Frank Bechly of Mont ezuma presided in Washington district court and sentenced two defendants arraigned by County Attorney John C. Owen. Gwendolyn L.
