Livestock glut hits Chicago as NFO action falters
Amid a 23 state drive to lift prices by withholding cattle, Chicago yards saw 16 000 head arrive the largest tally since May 25 and Wednesday totals not seen since 1961. Hog receipts rose 1 000 over expectations while prices fell up to 80 cents per hundredweight. AMI said the NFC action was collapsing as markets returned to normal with plants recalling workers.
