Two Are Victims Skubal Youth and Guthrie Die in Crash
A high speed collision on Highway 1 north of Solon killed 18 year old Robert Gene Skubal of Cotter and 20 year old Clyde Dean Guthrie of Lone Tree. Both died at the scene. Funeral services are planned Tuesday for Skubal at 2 p.m. in Columbus Junction with burial in Indian Creek Cemetery. Guthrie’s services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Lone Tree Methodist Church with burial in Lone Tree Cemetery. Skubal, born February 7, 1951, is survived by siblings and extended family. Guthrie, born in Iowa City, worked for Breese Auto Parts and is survived by parents, two sisters, and two brothers.
