Des Moines reports the state conservation commission recording 55 arrests in July for fishing violations. Fines exceeded 1000 dollars. over 200 pounds of fish and 474 fishing tackle items were confiscated.
Store owners swept out their premises as thousands of crickets swarmed the Charles City business district overnight signaling an unusual pest event and disrupting late night activity.
The four day strike by Merchants Package and Delivery Service drivers concludes with a modified closed shop. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters and AFL affiliates back the agreement. It sets wages at 18 dollars a week for regular drivers and 40 cents an hour for extras.
Roy Beidelman 30 Bethlehem Pennsylvania attributed two weeks of memory loss to his former job as an organist now doing manual labor at a radiator valve factory in Waterloo. He asked a policeman last Friday, Where am I. Beidelman said he had worked as an organist for years.

Cab driver Frenchy Devereux arrived home after a roughly 2000 mile journey at the request of a Dakota County Nebraska woman passenger. Cab officials worried when the car vanished. Devereux phoned from Worthington Minnesota and Thief River Falls Minnesota saying all was well and he was returning home. The fare totaled about $200 before the passenger’s money ran out.
Mrs. Coldren C. Glenn thanked Des Moines police for help in visiting the state fair while en route to Iowa Lutheran Hospital. The couple, residing near Mitchellville, cut their fair visit short to reach the hospital, and Mr. Glenn stayed at home due to illness.
Reed McBride arrives in Washington from Cones ville to operate a new city market at 110 North Iowa Avenue. He lists fishing as a chief hobby and says Washington suits him. he hopes to make the city his permanent home.
Principal George Fields reports 83 sophomores registered yesterday and two more this morning, bringing the sophomore class to 85. Eight freshmen also enrolled yesterday, totaling 96 first year students, with more freshmen expected before openings. Juniors enroll today and seniors on Friday.
The widow of George W. Boles, 27, a Glenwood bank cashier and national guardsman, will seek a formal inquest by Mills County coroner F. H. Raynor. Relatives allege negligence at Camp Dodge and Fort Des Moines hospitals after Boles died Sunday from meningitis linked to sinus irritation. July claims for single cash old age payments totaled 187 with $9,477.58 paid. Average per claim was $50.68. Applications on file reached 40,097,446. Total federal benefits paid under old age insurance amount to $6,700,993 to 184,612 claimants.

Survived by parents Alfred and [illegible] Keith and siblings Therion Dorothea Lucille Marvin and Mary Frances. A Mt Pleasant high school graduate, she lived on the Keith farm three miles southeast of Wayland.
