Kelley Mother Seeks New Clemency Hearing for Slain Son
Des Moines reports Mrs. Arthur Kelley of Minneapolis will again appeal to Gov. Norman Erbe for clemency for condemned killer Charles Edwin Kelley. A hearing is set for Wednesday at 10 30 a m with Kelley’s attorney Robert Heit hoff present. Kelley faces execution September 6 for the killing of IRS agent Alvin Koehrsen in a three state crime spree that left three dead and three wounded. The governor previously denied clemency for Kelley’s co-defendant Brown, who was hanged July 24.

Des Moines Aug 24 One of four Polk County jail escapees, Fletcher Clarity 36, was captured about 11 a m at an East side service station with at least one broken ankle he allegedly sustained from a 35 foot drop from a third floor window.
