Brighton man given deferred judgment in trespass case
Robert A. Fisher of Brighton received a deferred judgment in Washington County District Court on a criminal trespass with injury conviction. The 35 year old pleaded guilty July 30 for a June 23 Brighton home disturbance. He was placed on a year of probation, with potential record clearance if he completes probation and adheres to guidelines. Fisher said he enrolled in the Problem Drinking Center program after the incident and found it helpful.

Jon Allen, 21, of Rolfe, died in Minnesota from injuries after an early Sunday crash at Twin Lakes. he initially went to Fort Dodge hospital before transfer.

Dynamite found in police car sparks Algona arrests
Two Algona men Thomas Brandon and Jeffrey Stevenson, ages 18 and 19, were arrested early today and charged with placing two sticks of dynamite in the trunk of police Sgt. Larry Sangl’s squad car a week ago. Sangl had discovered the device earlier and Stevenson had previously accused Sangl of brutality in a prior driving violation arrest. The force investigated and city officials backed Sangl, and the case was not pursued further.
