Mrs. John R. Cupp 64 died at her home 315 West Third Street late Tuesday afternoon after years of ill health. Funeral at 2 PM Friday at the Christian church with Rev. T. C. GM Grants 5-Cent Wage Increase to UAW Workers
General Motors gave the CIO United Auto Workers a five cent cost of living wage rise, boosting the hourly rate to 1.72 dollars from 1.51 starting Sept. 1. About 85,000 hourly employees receive the increase while 76,000 salaried workers gain 25 dollars per quarter. UAW President Walter Reuther criticized the move as inflationary. GM President Charles E. Wilson said no price hikes are planned for autos and trucks. The request followed a 1.5 percent cost-of-living rise reported for the 30 days ending July 15.
