Lenox Water Shortage Erased by Rains

Lenox Iowa faced a water shortage this summer but heavy rains eased the crisis. City officials dropped plans to pipe water from the Platte River after laying more than a mile of pipe provided by federal civil defense authorities. Pipe will be returned to Ft. Leavenworth Kansas as restrictions end.

Gray Ladies cap ceremony honors eleven new members

Eleven members of a new Gray Lady class were honored at caping ceremonies in the county hospital nurses home. The event featured invocation by Dr. Evert L. Haney, special music by Joanna and Carma Thompson, and remarks by Red Cross and hospital leaders. Certificates were given by Dr. R. V. Owen to those completing preliminary work, with awards for four, three, two, and one year of service listed for numerous honorees from Charlotte Baldrige to Esther Martin.
