Shenandoah Chooses Site for Municipal Airport
A column notes Shenandoah selected a site a mile and a half west of Five Corners for a new municipal airport. A June 6 vote approved the project with negotiations under way to purchase 160 acres. Half the land is owned by A K Hollingsworth of Des Moines and Central Iowa Fuel Co., the other half by Cordelia Steeve of Page Center. Carl Lechniner of Ames is the project engineer.

More than 30 prominent members of the Negro Masonic lodge of Iowa attended the funeral of Narris Black at L. A Jones funeral home on Sunday afternoon. Iowa grand masters and many pallbearers from Des Moines Muscatine and other cities helped with Masonic rites. Burial followed at Woodlawn cemetery. Black, a Washington High School graduate of 1886, was a printer by trade and 75 years old.
